Among the most vertically concentrated mountain races in European trail running, the TORX TOR130 ‘Tot Dret’ covers 130 kilometres point-to-point from Gressoney-La-Trinité to Courmayeur through the High Alps of Italy’s Aosta Valley, accumulating 12,000 metres of elevation gain. At 92 metres of elevation gain per kilometre, it ranks 22nd out of approximately 390 races in the DiscoverTrailRaces database — placing it in the top 6 percent for vertical density across all distances and all race lengths. The course contains 24 climbs of at least 100 metres and 18 sustained ascents, with over 21 percent of the route pitched above 20 percent gradient — steeper than most ski runs. Launched in 2017 as the shorter counterpart to the legendary TOR330 Tor des Géants, the TOR130 is also a Western States Endurance Run qualifier, adding competitive prestige to its extreme character. Set entirely in High Alpine terrain above the Aosta Valley — with Mont Blanc and the Monte Rosa massif as neighbours — the race draws trail runners seeking a genuine Himalayan-scale challenge compacted into four days. Entry for 2026 was 260 euros; registration sold out within the March window.
