A 24/7 city-edge ultra: Vienna’s greenbelt looped into a gritty, urban-to-forest endurance test.
Wien Rundumadum 61km is the half-route of Vienna's looping forest ultra — covering 61km of the Wienerwald greenbelt and urban fringe around Austria's capital with just 500m of D+ (8.20m per kilometre by GPX analysis). That makes it the 32nd flattest course in the DiscoverTrailRaces database of 390 European ultras, and the 34th lowest for vertical density. The challenge is not elevation but duration: 61km on forest paths and Vienna's urban edges, almost entirely under Wienerwald tree cover. Entry for 2026 runs €100 (until May 31) and €120 (from June 6), with a mandatory GPS tracker — €15 extra, paid in cash at check-in — required for all participants. The race is not sold out, unlike many European city-adjacent ultras. First staged in 2014 and listed on DUV, it is well established for its distance. Vienna airport (VIE) is 20–45 minutes away; the city needs no introduction as a destination, with UNESCO World Heritage status and world-class logistics.
