Cold Hawaii Ultra 81km: Denmark's North Sea Dune Race, Measured

Flat but demanding. The course covers 81.3km with approximately 180m of total gain — 2.2m per km — in a point-to-point south through Thy National Park along the West Coast Trail. There is almost no elevation. The challenge is wind, sand, distance, and sustained exposure to North Sea coastal conditions. In September the area averages 15–19°C with significant coastal wind, 82% humidity, and around 14 rainy days. 'Cold Hawaii' is the local name for a coastline famous in Scandinavia for powerful, cold Atlantic surf conditions.

The race is a genuine destination — Thy National Park is approximately 2 hours by car from Aalborg Airport (AAL) and 2–2.5 hours from Billund Airport (BLL). Public transport is not recommended; a hire car is the practical option. Accommodation in the area is limited — the surf towns of Klitmøller and Hanstholm are closest; book early.
