The Wien Rundumadum 88km is one of the four solo distances offered at the Wien Rundumadum event (alongside 130km, 61km, and 42km), tracing the official Rundumadum trail through Vienna's greenbelt -- 88km of forests, hills, vineyards, canals, and parks circling the Austrian capital. 'Rundumadum' is Viennese dialect for 'all around.' The event is organised by Verein Mehrkampf Team Austria (founded 2014) and takes place in November 2026. All stage checkpoints are accessible by Vienna public transport -- unique for an ultra of this distance.

Accessible by gradient standards, but demanding through distance and November conditions. The course covers 88km with only 1,600m of gain (~18.2 m/km) and ranks 58/~390 in the DTR database for average downhill steepness (near the gentlest in the catalogue). There is no sustained alpine climbing. The challenge is sustained effort over 88km, cold overnight temperatures (potentially near-freezing), fog, and rain. Thermal and waterproof gear are essential. Runners with a strong marathon base and some trail experience are the primary target; specialist mountain climbing fitness is not required.

A notable feature of this race: all stage checkpoints are accessible by Vienna public transport, so crew and spectators can follow the race without a car -- rare for any ultra.
