The route passes through the forests of Utrecht Province around the village of Lage Vuursche, near Baarn. The terrain is deciduous and coniferous forest — birch, oak, rowan — with sections of heathland, mixed single tracks, sand paths, and forest roads. The course passes through the woodland estates surrounding Soestdijk Palace (former Dutch royal residence), the grounds of Drakensteyn Castle, and Groenewoud Castle. There are no significant climbs; total elevation gain is approximately 117m (Airtable figure) to 150m (external sources). Aid posts are positioned at a maximum of 15km apart. The field is capped at 300 participants and the final cutoff is 5:00 PM — roughly dusk in late-October Netherlands.
