Running in the clouds: huge volcanic climbs, high altitude, and epic island views end to end.
Tenerife Blue Trail by UTMB 110K is a point-to-point UTMB World Series Major crossing Tenerife island from south to north — Playa de los Cristianos at sea level to Puerto de la Cruz — passing over Mount Teide at 3,350m altitude. The 2026 edition started at 23:00 on Friday March 20. The course covers 110km with 6,250m of gain (56.8 m/km) through five biomes: beach/lava fields, Canary pine forest, volcanic plateau, the 'sea of clouds' trade-wind atmospheric layer, and laurel forest. The average uphill gradient of 13.33% and downhill of −14.11% are both estimated in the top ~10% of European trail races for sustained gradient steepness. Runners experience a ~25°C temperature swing: ~18–24°C at the night start to −5°C at Teide to ~20°C at the coast. Entry is €1.73/km (€190 standard) and all distances are sold out. Tenerife South Airport (TFS) is 18 minutes from Los Cristianos. With 6 ITRA points and UTMB 100M category, TBT 110K suits elite and experienced mountain runners pursuing UTMB qualification on a world-class volcanic island course. Race was possibly moved due to weather.

Why Tenerife Blue Trail 110K Is One of Europe's Steepest Island Ultras: 13.33% Average Uphill▼
Q: How hard is the Tenerife Blue Trail 110K? A: One of Europe's most demanding volcanic island ultras. Average uphill gradient 13.33% estimated top ~10% DTR database; biggest descent drops 1,650m over 17.43km. High-altitude section (59–72km, 3,000–3,350m) slows most runners dramatically.
