K100 Sold Out -- K55 Is Still Open: The Harder Race Per Kilometre

Q: What is the Krakonosova K55? A: The Krakonosova K55 is the 55km distance of the Krakonosova stovka (Krakonos's Hundred), one of the oldest mountain endurance events in Central Europe. Founded in 1966 and reaching its 60th edition in 2026, the event is held annually in late June in the Krkonose (Giant Mountains) National Park, starting and finishing in Vrchlabi. The K55 runs on Saturday morning (daytime, no night section) the day after the flagship K100. It covers 55km with 2,200m D+ (40 m/km), with 44.4% of the course uphill and only 14.9% flat. Entry fee is 1,050 CZK (approximately EUR 43). The K55 is not sold out for 2026, unlike the K100 which sold out in May. The race is named for Krakonos, the legendary mountain spirit of Czech and German Riesengebirge folklore.
