From Soria Moria to Verdens Ende -- What the Name Tells You About the Race

Q: What is Soria Moria til Verdens Ende (SMVE) 165km? A: Soria Moria til Verdens Ende (SMVE) is a self-supported ultra trail running 165km from Soria Moria hotel on Voksenkollen hill in Oslo -- named for the castle in Norwegian fairy tales -- south through forest, farmland, and coastline to Verdens Ende (World's End) on Tjome island in Vestfold, one of Norway's most famous natural landmarks. The course gains approximately 4,200m D+ (25.5 m/km, rank 329/~390 in the DTR database -- low density), making this an endurance and distance challenge rather than a gradient race. UTMB 100M Index points. 35-hour cutoff (Saturday 10:00 start, Sunday 21:00 cutoff). Route is NOT physically marked -- runners navigate by GPS track or paper map. Self-supported with 7 service points. ~200 capacity; ~94 finishers (2024). Volunteer-organised by Langt og Lenge. The 2026 edition (May 30-31) has passed; next expected late May 2027.
