The Adamello Half Trail (AHT) is a 60 km high-alpine loop held on 25 September 2026 in Italy's Adamello massif, Lombardy — one of four distances at the annual Adamello Ultra Trail event weekend in Vezza d'Oglio. The course climbs 4,000 m of gain (66.7 m/km), retracing historic WWI paths and high mountain ridges. The biggest single ascent gains 1,410 m — ranked 31st of 390 GPX-analysed European ultras for single-climb rise, placing it in the top 8% across all distance categories.
Crampons are mandatory, the time limit is 18 hours, and the minimum participant age is 20. The 60 km debuted in 2024 (123 finishers) and doubled its field in 2025 (246 finishers), now sold out for 2026. ITRA awards 3 points. Entry costs EUR 100 at current tier (open until 13 September, waiting list active). Nearest airports — Milan Bergamo (BGY), Verona (VRN), and Milan Malpensa (MXP) — are 2.5-4 hours by road; public transport is limited and a car is strongly recommended. September temperatures average 9-19 degrees C with firm trail conditions typical. Best suited to experienced mountain runners comfortable with mandatory overnight miles and near-constant steep terrain.

Yes. The 60km is sold out for 2026. A waiting list is active at adamelloultratrail.it, register there and the organisation will contact you if a place opens. The race has grown rapidly: 123 finishers in its 2024 debut and 246 in 2025. Other AUT distances (35km, 100km, 170km) may still have availability, check the registration page. Entry fee was EUR 90 before June 30 and EUR 100 from July 1 to registration close on September 13.
Milan Bergamo (BGY), Verona (VRN), and Milan Malpensa (MXP) are all approximately 2.5-4 hours from the race start in Vezza d'Oglio. Public transport is possible in theory. By train to Brescia followed by bus or taxi through Val Camonica, but slow and impractical with race kit. A rental car is strongly recommended.
The Adamello massif was the site of the Adamello Campaign (1915-1918), one of the highest-altitude battles of World War I fought on glaciers and high passes at 3,000 m by Italian and Austro-Hungarian forces. The trail network preserves original WWI mule paths, supply tracks, and fortification approaches. The AHT 60km retraces the opening portion of these historic routes alongside the longer AUT 100km and 170km courses. The Valle Camonica below is also home to Val Camonica prehistoric rock art, a UNESCO World Heritage Site inscribed in 1979, making the broader Adamello area historically layered from ancient to modern.
