Chianti Ultra Trail by UTMB 75km: Tuscany Vineyards, San Michele Mountain, and UTMB Running Stones
Chianti Ultra Trail by UTMB 75km (CUT) is a UTMB World Series race held each March in the Chianti Classico wine region of Tuscany, Italy. The loop course starts and finishes in Radda in Chianti, covering 75km with 3,100m D+ through two distinct phases: the opening 40km threads swift, runnable trails through the Chianti Senese vineyards; from kilometre 40, the decisive ascent to San Michele Mountain begins, peaking near kilometre 60 before a descent through Volpaia and the valley back to Radda.
D+ per km of 41.3 m/km ranks 265th of 390 European ultras for vertical density — a genuinely mountainous challenge set against some of Europe’s most scenic terrain. Three UTMB Running Stones are awarded with direct-entry Finals Access in the 100K category. Entry €165 plus 8% administration fee; the 2026 edition sold out with charity bibs at €250 the only option. Registration for March 2027 is open. Nearest airports: Florence (FLR) or Pisa (PSA), 60 minutes by car. Medical certificate required. First held in 2018. The companion UTCC 120km race, run on the same weekend, awards Western States Endurance Run Golden Tickets.
