The Deep Japan Ultra 80km (UONUMA 80km) is an ITRA-certified Asia Trail Master series race through Niigata's snow country — the yukiguni region where winter snowfall reaches 4 metres and beech forests tower above the Uonuma mountain landscape. Top single descent drops 1,076m (rank 76/390 — top 20%) and top single ascent rises 1,084m (rank 95/390 — top 24%): a near-perfect topographic mirror image, within 8m of each other, across a course where 4,000m D+ over 80km (50 m/km) makes for sustained mountain effort. 17.1% flat terrain (rank 141/390).
Mount Awagatake — one of Japan's 300 famous mountains — appears on course. Loop from Irihirose Sports Center, Uonuma City, Niigata. Race date: 26 June 2026; 24-hour time limit with cutoffs. Was Sold Out (capacity 1,594). Entry ¥37,000 (2.45 €/km). Access: 2–3 hrs by car or Shinkansen + shuttle from Tokyo or Niigata.
