Gauja Trail by UTMB 45km is a UTMB World Series race staged on 2 August 2026 in Gauja National Park, Latvia's largest protected area. The point-to-point course runs from Ligatne -- a 19th-century paper mill town with a nearby secret Soviet-era government bunker -- through Baltic sandstone gorges and forest singletrack to a finish in historic Cesis, one of Latvia's oldest medieval towns. Elevation gain is 1,200m over 45km (26.7 m/km), ranking this among the most runnable ultra profiles of any UTMB World Series event in the database: the biggest single ascent rises just 63m (ranked 364th of 390 European ultras for ascent magnitude) and the biggest single descent drops 71m.
Two UTMB Running Stones are awarded. Maximum race time is 11 hours. Entry EUR 99 plus UTMB platform fee (approximately EUR 7.92). Not sold out. Nearest airport Riga (RIX), 1 hour 54 minutes by car or train. Good public transport connections from Riga to Sigulda, Cesis, and Ligatne. Latvia is the only UTMB World Series host country in the Baltic states.
