The Salomon Pitz Alpine Glacier Trail P45 Rifflsee Trail is a 43km mountain marathon based in Mandarfen, deep in the Pitztal valley of Tyrol, Austria. Starting at 07:00 from Mandarfen, the route climbs to the Rifflsee — Austria's highest mountain lake — twice over its 43km loop, passing the Taschachhaus with glacier panorama views before descending via the Zirbensteig trail. Official D+ is 2,100m. The average uphill gradient ranks 7th out of 390 European ultras (Rank 1 = steepest; only 6 races climb more steeply on average), and the average descent gradient ranks 385th on the gentleness scale (only 5 races demand steeper average descents).
The P45 Rifflsee Trail sits at the extreme end of the gradient spectrum in both directions simultaneously — despite a mid-table D+/km of 48.8 m/km. UTMB Index 50K qualifier; 2 ITRA points; Mountain Level 7. Title sponsor Salomon. Mandatory equipment required. Sold out every year since 2018; capacity 1,613. Innsbruck Airport (INN) is 82 minutes from Mandarfen by car. Entry ran 115 euros (2.67 per km). 14th edition in 2026; first edition 2013.
