Letecká 100: Slovakia's 106km Winter WSER Qualifier

Letecká 100 (Aviation Hundred) is a 106km loop ultramarathon starting and finishing in Trenčín, Slovakia, with 3,590m D+ over forest ridges in the Považský Inovec and Strážovské vrchy ranges. The race is a WSER qualifier (sub-21h finish required), carries 4 ITRA points, caps at 250 participants, and sells out the same day registration opens in November.

At 9.5% DW average uphill gradient (rank 281/390 — bottom 28% steepest, gentler portion of the DTR database) and 34.8% flat terrain (rank 208/390 — above mid), this is a highly runnable 100km+ course with an unusual 16km flat opening along the Váh River dam before the first climb. The biggest single ascent (600m, rank 197/390 — just above mid) arrives back-loaded at km 68. March makes this a genuine winter ultra — snow, mud, and ice are possible. EUR 82 entry (~EUR 0.77/km). Bratislava BTS and Vienna VIE both 78 minutes away. Not IS FAR. 202 finishers from 243 starters in 2025 (17% DNF). Next edition expected March 2027.

Letecká 100: Slovakia's 106km Winter WSER Qualifier

Letecká 100: Slovakia's 106km Mountain Ultra Race Overview

What is the Letecká 100?

The Letecká 100 (Aviation Hundred) is a 106km loop ultra starting and finishing in Trenčín, Slovakia, organized by Slovak Ultra Trail. Named after the Trenčín region's aeronautical history (letecká = aviation), it is a WSER qualifier (Western States Endurance Run entry for sub-21h finishers), carries 4 ITRA points, and is capped at 250 participants. The race is in its 12th edition (2026), typically takes place in early March, and sells out the same day registration opens in November. The course gains 3,590m D+ (33.9 m/km) with a 9.49% DW average uphill gradient (rank 281/~390 — bottom 28% steepest) and 34.8% flat terrain (rank 208/~390) — one of the most runnable 100km+ courses in Central Europe. 202 runners finished in 2025 from 243 starters.

A Western States Endurance Run Qualifier: The Letecká 100 Credentials

Is the Letecká 100 a WSER qualifier?

Yes. The Letecká 100 qualifies runners for the Western States Endurance Run (WSER) lottery. Runners must finish within 21 hours (overall time limit is 25 hours) to earn WSER qualification. The race also carries 4 ITRA points and is part of the ITRA National League. Elite runners benefit from a significant entry discount: men with 700+ ITRA points receive 50% off (EUR 41); men with 800+ points enter free. Women with 550+ ITRA points receive 50% off; women with 650+ points enter free. WSER qualification demand is the primary driver of the race selling out same-day when registration opens in November.

Letecká 100 Annual Timing, Race Date, and Entry Fee Overview

When is the Letecká 100 and how much does it cost?

The Letecká 100 takes place annually in early March. The 2026 edition (March 7–8) has already taken place; the next edition is expected in March 2027 with registration opening approximately November 2026. The 2026 entry fee was EUR 82 (EUR 0.77/km); the 2027 fee has not been confirmed. The race sells out the same day registration opens — set a reminder for November. No additional fees beyond registration. A drop bag is available at Aid Station K4 Duchonka (km 63, max 3kg). Mandatory gear includes head torch, survival foil, waterproof jacket, GPS device with GPX, and 1L water capacity.

Snow, Mud, Ice, and Night Running: Winter Conditions on Letecká 106km

How hard is the Letecká 100 106km?

Moderately demanding for a 100km+ ultra, with an accessible gradient profile but significant volume and winter conditions. The course gains 3,590m D+ (33.9 m/km) with 9.49% DW average uphill (rank 281/~390 — bottom 28% steepest) and -9.55% DW average downhill (rank 112/~390 inverted — top 29% gentlest) — genuinely runnable forest terrain. At 34.8% flat (rank 208/~390), including a 16km flat opening, strong runners can bank early time. The biggest climb (600m, rank 197/~390 — just above mid) arrives back-loaded at km 68. The March date introduces winter conditions: snow, mud, and ice are possible; the organizer explicitly describes this as a winter sports event. A 06:00 start means pre-dawn cold and night running is guaranteed. The 2025 DNF rate was 17% (41 of 243 starters) in an unusually warm edition.
