Letecká 100: Slovakia's 106km Winter WSER Qualifier

The Letecká 100 (Aviation Hundred) is a 106km loop ultra starting and finishing in Trenčín, Slovakia, organized by Slovak Ultra Trail. Yes. The Letecká 100 qualifies runners for the Western States Endurance Run (WSER) lottery. Runners must finish within 21 hours (overall time limit is 25 hours) to earn WSER qualification. The race also carries 4 ITRA points and is part of the ITRA National League. Elite runners benefit from a significant entry discount: men with 700+ ITRA points receive 50% off (EUR 41); men with 800+ points enter free. Women with 550+ ITRA points receive 50% off; women with 650+ points enter free. WSER qualification demand is the primary driver of the race selling out same-day when registration opens in November.

The Letecká 100 takes place annually in early March. The 2026 edition (March 7–8) has already taken place; the next edition is expected in March 2027 with registration opening approximately November 2026. The 2026 entry fee was EUR 82 (EUR 0.77/km); the 2027 fee has not been confirmed. The race sells out the same day registration opens — set a reminder for November. No additional fees beyond registration. A drop bag is available at Aid Station K4 Duchonka (km 63, max 3kg). Mandatory gear includes head torch, survival foil, waterproof jacket, GPS device with GPX, and 1L water capacity.

At 34.8% flat (rank 208/~390), including a 16km flat opening, strong runners can bank early time. The biggest climb (600m, rank 197/~390 — just above mid) arrives back-loaded at km 68. The March date introduces winter conditions: snow, mud, and ice are possible; the organizer explicitly describes this as a winter sports event. A 06:00 start means pre-dawn cold and night running is guaranteed. The 2025 DNF rate was 17% (41 of 243 starters) in an unusually warm edition.

Both Bratislava Airport (BTS) and Vienna International Airport (VIE) are approximately 78 minutes from Trenčín by car — giving international runners two major hub options and making this NOT IS FAR by DTR's 180-minute threshold. Public transport from Bratislava to Trenčín is available by train or bus. The start and finish is at Arena Ostrov (Na Ostrove 363, Trenčín) — a loop course returning to the same point. On-site accommodation: gym at Arena Ostrov EUR 7/person; pension at same building via Booking.com. Check-in Friday evening 18:00–22:00. The organizer does not provide transport from DNF points.
