Fjallmaraton 100K is a point-to-point fell ultra through Jamtland County in the Swedish mountains, running 100km from Fangamon south through Valadalen, across Ottfjallet, Hallfjallet and Grofjallet to finish in Ottsjo. The race carries 3,300m D+ (33.0 m/km), an 8.8% distance-weighted average uphill gradient and -9% average downhill gradient (both LOWER-MID tier) -- a genuinely runnable fell character across sustained rolling moorland rather than technical alpine walls. At 31.9% flat terrain (31.9km of runnable terrain across 100km), the course rewards consistent pace across high-altitude boggy moors and single trail through a sub-arctic Scandinavian landscape.
Fjallmaraton 100K is part of the Spartan Trail World Championship Series and is ITRA-listed. It takes place on Thursday 30 July 2026 as part of Fjallmaratonveckan -- a full race week that also includes the classic KIA 45K Fjallmaraton (running since 2005), a half-marathon, vertical kilometer, and children's races. Entry runs from 1,800 SEK (early) to 2,300 SEK (late/race day), approximately EUR 155-200. Not sold out. Are Ostersund Airport (OSD) is 89 minutes from the start.
The Fjallmaraton course character is distinctively Scandinavian: 98% single trail across moorland and boggy fell, with plank walkways over wetland sections, knee-deep mud possible in any conditions, and free-running reindeer visible on the first ascent. An estimated 90% of participants are Swedish, giving the event a local and authentic atmosphere. Aid stations at Valadalen (~km 22) and Nordbottnen (~km 39.5) serve water, sports drinks, bars, and bananas. No course records are listed in the DTR database. Finisher counts for 2024 and 2025 are 107 and 112 respectively.
