Dolnoslaski Festiwal Biegow Gorskich 110km110km: Running the Return Leg of Poland's Longest Trail Race Through the Sudetes -- Spa Town Start, Night Running, Spa Town Finish

The K-B-L 110km (Kudowa-Braszowice-Ladek) is a standalone trail race that follows the return leg of the 240km Bieg 7 Szczytow (Seven Summits Run) -- Poland's longest trail race. The course runs point-to-point from Kudowa Zdroj Park Zdrojowy to Ladek-Zdroj through the Sudetes mountains of Lower Silesia: 110km and 3,667m D+ (~33.3 m/km). Start: 17:00 on Friday July 17, 2026. Time limit: 26 hours (finish by ~19:00 Saturday). 6 nutrition points. 400-person cap. Part of the Dolnoslaski Festiwal Biegow Gorskich (DFBG), the mega-festival drawing ~5,500 participants, 14th edition in 2026. NOT sold out. 390 PLN standard entry. NOT FAR: Wroclaw Airport (WRO) 105 minutes. Note: the course runs the 130km Super Trail in reverse -- the 130km's hardest descents become the K-B-L's defining climbs, and vice versa.

The K-B-L 110km is a genuine mountain 100 at an accessible difficulty level within the European trail running spectrum. The DW average uphill gradient of 8.47% (LOWER-MID tier) and 33.3 m/km D+/km place it in the same tier as races like Beara Way Ultra (8.56% avg uphill) -- hilly and demanding over 110km, but not technically steep or Alpine. The Sudetes peaks remain below 1,000m on this course; the terrain is beech forest trails, dirt roads, and highland paths. The challenge is primarily distance and cumulative fatigue rather than technical terrain or extreme gradients. The steepest section is Descent 3 (km 82.92, -10.00% avg, GPS-confirmed) -- a 2.55km technical descent in the final quarter. The Friday 17:00 start means a full overnight run, which adds psychological and navigational challenge regardless of gradient. July Sudetes weather brings afternoon thunderstorm risk and temperature swings from warm valleys to cooler ridges.

They are mirror courses -- the same terrain run in opposite directions. The 130km Super Trail runs Ladek-Zdroj → Kudowa-Zdroj (northeast to southwest). The K-B-L 110km runs Kudowa-Zdroj → Ladek-Zdroj (southwest to northeast). The 240km Bieg 7 Szczytow consists of both legs run sequentially: 130km runners who complete the first leg at Kudowa-Zdroj become the starting field for the K-B-L return. Standalone 110km runners join at the same start point. This means the K-B-L's biggest climbs are the 130km's biggest descents, and vice versa. The K-B-L 110km has a slightly gentler average uphill (8.47%) than the 130km (9.04%) but slightly steeper descents (-8.96% vs -7.88%), reflecting the reversed direction. Both are Pre-Alpine Sudetes courses; neither is technically harder than the other -- they simply challenge runners in different sequences.

The Dolnoslaski Festiwal Biegow Gorskich (DFBG) is Poland's largest mountain trail running festival, held annually in July in Ladek-Zdroj, Lower Silesia. The 14th edition runs July 16-19, 2026. The festival draws approximately 5,500 participants across distances ranging from 5km to 240km, hosted across four days. Beyond the races, DFBG includes a trail running expo, podcasts, meet-the-elite sessions, and the festival atmosphere of Ladek-Zdroj -- a historic thermal spa town. Distances in 2026 include the 240km Bieg 7 Szczytow (flagship), 130km Super Trail, 110km K-B-L, 55km and shorter distances. For international runners, the festival format makes a visit worthwhile even if only entering one distance -- the race village in Ladek-Zdroj is a genuine event hub.

The race finishes (and festival hub is) in Ladek-Zdroj -- where accommodation is based. The race STARTS in Kudowa Zdroj, approximately 110km away by road. A race-organized bus runs from Ladek-Zdroj to the Kudowa Zdroj start for 49 PLN -- this is the practical way for most runners to reach the start line. Getting to Ladek-Zdroj: Wroclaw Airport (WRO) is approximately 105 minutes away -- NOT FAR by DTR standards. Prague Airport (PRG) and Dresden Airport (DRS) are also viable for international runners, adding flexibility for European connections. By public transport: train from Wroclaw to Klodzko, then bus or taxi to Ladek-Zdroj. A car is easiest for flexibility, especially with start-line logistics. Accommodation in Ladek-Zdroj is strong (spa town with good hotel and pension supply) but fills quickly during the DFBG festival week in July -- book several months in advance.
